Ski Season

Winter is when the town becomes fully alive. It is one of Bulgaria’s new generation, rapidly expanding ski resorts boasting some 70km of runs. Over the last few years the resort has been rejuvenated with the installation of state of the art lifts and piste maintenance equipment. Snow cover is maintained by the use of snow cannon and the seven kilometer home run from the top of the gondola is floodlit. With the highest ski altitude at 2600m and the bottom of the gondola being at 990m, Banskos longest run is a massive16 km. Cross-country trails, a snow-board fun park and an ice rink add to the fun. For the adventurous skier there are also off-piste possibilities.<BR>Mountain Dream is approximately 200 m across from the home run. This enables an easy almost level walk across to the Ski Road or home run allowing a ski or slide down to the gondola in the morning and a relaxed return walk over almost level ground at the end of a day’s skiing. Ski storage is available in the basement of the next apartment block (E).<BR>The gondola station is one kilometer by road down hill from Mountain Dream but like other hotels a hotel minibus shuttle service will be available.<BR>

Located above the town of Bansko at the edge of the Pirin National Park it is approximately 200m from the home ski run and commands views of both the mountains and valley from its two balconies.<BR>As part of a four-star hotel and apartment complex our guests will benefit from a range of quality facilities including an 18m diameter indoor swimming pool, spa centre with various treatments, hot tub/jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, gym as well as restaurant, bar, ski locker, launderette and games room. The hotel charges for some of these items.<BR>Our apartment offers a full range of equipment with extras should a baby or young child be visiting<BR>

Bansko Area

The ‘all season’ charming resort of Bansko, is situated in the south west of Bulgaria at the foot of the Pirin mountains 936m above sea level and has a population of around 10,000.<BR>The old town, dominated by the church’s beautiful bell tower is situated near the centre and is most picturesque with narrow cobbled streets and quaint old buildings. It is worth exploring as are the approximately 100 mehanas, the local restaurants or taverns, which are nearly always atmospheric and attractive. There is plenty of nightlife, especially during the ski season, including a number of night clubs.<BR>The stunning scenery in the Pirin National Park area, where the ski slopes are situated, resulted in the area being designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The park encompasses some 60 alpine peaks which rise above 2,500m and many glacial lakes. A number of almost extinct animal species can still be found here. Paths and refuges crisscross the mountains and a wide range of mountain pursuits are to be found within easy reach of Mountain Dream. <BR>With temperatures reaching the low 30s Centigrade at times, in summer Bansko becomes an outdoor community. Café awnings proliferate and the old ladies dressed in traditional style sit along benches gossiping and awaiting the cows who in the evenings amble their way along the roads to their individual homes.<BR>On Sundays there is a large street market and every year there are a variety of festivals including a popular international Jazz festival in August.<BR>
